Patient with unilateral crossbite on the right side and bilateral openbite was treated non-extraction
Patient has unilateral posterior crossbite. Expansion followed by upper and lower braces for 24 months.
Unilateral posterior crossbite is more commonly encountered than that of bilateral crossbite. When this crossbite condition presents, it is recommended to correct it as soon as possible before the palatal suture fused to avoid future orthognathic surgery. Also patient's face potentially develops asymmetrically toward the crossbite side if the condition is not treated.
Rapid palatal expander (RPE)
